Q: How GREAT was that CRITIQUE?

A: FABULOUS!!

Writers and illustrators gathered at Robinswood Park
in Bellevue last Saturday, September 19th at noon for the 2015 Great Critique.
They were asked to bring a lawn chair or blanket, a brown bag lunch and a
dessert to share. Needless to say, there were more desserts than
manuscripts! It seems as though our SCBWI-WWA members have some pretty sweet
teeth.

The host with the most: GREAT CRITIQUE Coordinator Tony Dorough.

It
was a warm, partly cloudy afternoon with no rain and numerous interludes
of brilliant sunshine. About 32 participants divided into small
groups, shared lunch and then took turns reading and offering critique
and notes on each other’s projects. The groups were facilitated by
local, published authors, who offered advice and pointers and gave each
person involved a chance to contribute feedback in a completely relaxed
atmosphere. The event lasted until 4pm and everyone
enjoyed a fun, literary end of summer afternoon.

Many thanks to our wonderful group leaders! They included: Janet Lee Carey (YA/MG), Helen Landalf (YA/MG), Lois Brandt (YA/MG), Wendy Wahman (PB), Meg Lippert (PB), and Tom Brenner (PB).  See below for some great group scenes!

Lois Brandt offers feedback in the park.

Helen Landalf listens, and her group learns.

1,2,3, cheers for moderator Wendy Wahman!
